Our background
St. Francis Revival Home “House of life” is a child care institution in Kalungu district of Bwasandeku Parish, Kinogola Village founded in 2012 by Rev. Fr. Hirt Gunter from Germany. It is run by Religious sisters of the Daughters of Mary (Bannabikira) whose Charism is motherhood. District in greater Masaka had a problem of mothers dying after giving birth and end up leaving the babies with no one to take care. So Fr. Hirt decided to start a residential care facility to cater for these babies that is why he choose these sisters to give a helping hand. These sisters treat these babies as mothers because they are their sons and daughters therefore, they provide a healthy environment for them through that motherly love and also fulfilling GOD’s words which states; ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these'(Mathew 19: 14).
This Child Care Institution was registered in 2019 to legally operate as a babies’ home with a capacity of 30 babies only. This work is done by Bannabikira Sisters assisted by competent lay staff under the supervision of duty bearers in Kalungu and ARU- CCCU Nsambya.
In addition, the house of life takes in children from this region and after their early years, provide them with access to the Ugandan education system. The house of life remains a refuge and contact point during the school year and especially during the long school holidays. Besides being shelter and a home, the house of life also serves as a resource for vulnerable and sick people in the surrounding area who are seeking help. No one is turned away.
